Almost a Day in London

Well, jet lag means one has a hard time going to sleep because the brain thinks it’s still midday .. and then when one falls asleep, the brain just keeps sleeping. Luckily the housekeeper woke us up at 11am. It was raining all morning and decided to stop midday, so maybe it all worked out for the best. We had a sandwich at the Underground station.

We took the Underground to the Tower of London for a tour. Then had coffee. We hopped back on the Underground and got off near Buckingham Palace. We then took a nice stroll through St. James Park to Westminster Abbey/Parliament/Big Ben. It was dark by 4:30. We just strolled around a bit before getting back to our neighborhood.

We had dinner at a pub near our hotel. Despite what you may have heard, we have thoroughly enjoyed British food. We’ve only had fish and chips, a meat pie, and a Scotch egg, but they’ve been great!  We are feeling the jet lag and the steps we got in today. Headed to bed fairly early for our trip to Southampton tomorrow.

At $1.25 to £1 England is a little pricier that we’d prefer … but one can use a credit/debit to enter and exit the public transportation. No ticket purchasing necessary: very easy.
