Steaming North
We left Lisbon last night on a heading almost due north. By 3:00pm we were just about at the northwest corner of the Iberian Peninsula. Over night and today has been rocky, but not bad. As we would be entering the mouth of the Bay of Biscay, and traversing it for the better part of the next 24 hours or more, the captain again warned us to use the handrails while up and about.

There was some time before the finals of the tournament so we had some ice cream and played more cards.

After Jim’s big win we headed back to our room for a bit of a rest before the evening.

After getting up, Kristi brought us a light breakfast to enjoy in our room. Then we played cards and listened to music as some passengers Zumba-ed for a while.
We decided to have lunch in the dining room for the first time. Why did we wait? Breakfast and lunch is just as nice as dinner — lunch is three or four courses, including dessert. We shall probably do it again tomorrow.

After lunch we participated in the Roulette tournament. For just a $20 buy in each we got to play three 5-spin rounds. After the preliminaries Jim was on the leader board.

It was a quick, but intensely serious final round of roulette. Joshua, the leader, was a young, serious, aggressive gambler. Jim got lucky on the fourth spin, hitting with five chips on 35. Neither Jim nor Joshua won anything on the last spin, which was actually good for Jim. He ended up with the most and won the tournament. He walked out with a crisp $100 bill. 😂

It was the final gala night and it was a 20’s theme. We had some wine we purchased in Lisbon and watched the dancers in the ballroom, then headed to trivia before dinner. We had a nice group for dinner. We were done for the evening. By chance, we also ran into the captain in the corridor who graciously allowed us to take a selfie with him.
